Attorney Richard Schibell of Ocean, NJ; check bouncing loser

The state of New Jersey presented Richard D. Schibell with a law license in 1973 after he graduated from Seton Hall University Law School.

The State Bar found Dick guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Made improper payments from client trust account
  • Caused financials records to be doctored to hide payments he made on behalf of a former paramour (girlfriend)
  • Wrote one or more checks on insufficient funds account (rubber)
  • Ethics investigators discovered “significant discrepancies” between subpoenaed bank records and those that Dick provided to investigators
  • Admitted to asking someone to alter trust account records to conceal a $20,000 payment to Bank of America that was made for an ex-lover
  • Repeatedly lied to ethics investigators (Screw you, said Dick!)

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the State Bar Court punished Dick by gifting him with a complimentary censure.
