Shortly after Judge Neal was convicted, a federal grand jury in Kansas City indicted Carl for making three false statements and committing perjury on at least one occasion during the investigation of Judge Neal.
The indictment charged Carl, a former elected official, with making loans to Judge Neal, and for arranging for his cousin to loan money to Neal as well. However, Carl falsely denied making those loans.
One count of perjury involved Carl testify falsely under oath in an affidavit in lieu of testimony before the grand jury investigating Judge Neal in which he declared that he never loaned any money to Neal and therefore had not checks, correspondence, records of repayment or other documents relating to any loan or payments in his possession.
As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Missouri Supreme Court punished Carl by gifting him with a complimentary 180-day suspension of his law license.
