Attorney Arlene Woods of Southfield, MI; ethical misfit

The state of Michigan provided Arlene F. Woods with a law license in 1987.

A disciplinary hearing panel found Arlene guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Violated or attempted to violate Rule of Conduct by knowingly assisting or inducing another to do so, or do so through the acts of another
  • Failed to respond to lawful demands for information from Grievance Administrator and the Attorney Grievance Commission
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Arlene!)
  • Violated standards of rules of professional conduct adopted by the Michigan Supreme Court
  • As applicant for bar license, engaged in the unauthorized practice of law or failed in her obligation up until date of admission to inform standing committee on character and fitness, in writing if any answers to her applicant affidavit of personal history change or ceased to be true

As a consequence of her misconduct, the enablers sitting on the Michigan Supreme Court punished Arlene by gifting her with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. August 2013) Arlene practices with the Law Offices of Arlene F. Woods at 26677 West 12 Mile Road in Southfield, Michigan, which is a suburb of Detroit.
