The state of Michigan presented Paul Daniel Curtis with a law license in 1979 after she graduated from the University of Detroit Law School.

 

The Tri-County Hearing Panel found Paulie guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Paulie’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree 

  • Neglected a legal matter entrusted to him
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to keep clients informed as to status of legal matter
  • Failed to expedite litigation
  • Violated or attempted to violate Rules of Conduct and/or knowingly assisted or induced another to do so
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Failed to take necessary steps to protect client interests upon termination
  • Failed to keep clients informed as to status of legal matter

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Michigan Supreme Court punished Paulie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Paulie’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree 

  • Failed to provide competent representation (Moron)
  • Neglected legal matter entrusted to him
  • Failed to seek lawful objectives of client
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to keep clients informed as to status of legal matter
  • Failed to expedite litigation
  • Violated or attempted to violate Rules of Conduct and/or knowingly assisted or induced another to do so
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Michigan Supreme Court punished Paulie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Paulie’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to seek lawful objectives of client
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to keep clients informed as to status of legal matter
  • Charged and/or collected clearly excessive fee (thief)
  • Failed to notify client of receipt of funds owing to client
  • Violated or attempted to violate Rules of Conduct and/or knowingly assisted or induced another to do so
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Michigan Supreme Court punished Paulie by gifting him with a complimentary 40-day suspension of his law license

 

Paulie’s 4th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to seek lawful objectives of client
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to respond to numerous client inquires
  • Failed to refund unearned fee
  • Charged and/or collected clearly excessive fee (thief)
  • Failed to keep clients informed as to status of legal matter
  • Failed to take necessary steps to protect client interests upon termination
  • Failed to expedite litigation
  • Violated or attempted to violate Rules of Conduct and/or knowingly assisted or induced another to do so
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Michigan Supreme Court punished Paulie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Paulie’s 5th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter
  • Failed to deposit advance fee into interest bearing account

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Michigan Supreme Court punished Paulie by gifting him with a complimentary 30-day suspension of his law license

 

Paulie’s 6th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Neglected legal matter entrusted to him
  • Failed to seek client’s lawful objectives
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Knowingly disobeyed obligation owed to tribunal
  • Failed to refund unearned fee (thief)
  • Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Paulie!)
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Engaged in conduct contrary to justice, honesty and good morals

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Michigan Supreme Court punished Paulie by gifting him with a complimentary 120-day suspension of his law license.
