Attorney Thomas Ellis III of Edgewater, MD; ethical gremlin

The state of Maryland presented Thomas Francis Ellis III with a law license in 1974 after he graduated from the University of Maryland Law School.

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel (ODC) found Tommy guilty of the following misconduct.

• Failed to safeguard client funds until earned
• Failed to ensure firm had effective measures giving assurance that his non-attorney’s conduct was compatible with his professional obligations
• Failed to properly supervise office staff
• Failed to ensure that records were maintained for attorney trust account

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Maryland Supreme punished Tommy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
