Attorney Scott G. Adams of East Boothbay, ME; ethical dwarf

The state of Maine presented Scott G. Adams with a law license in 1977 after he graduated from Western New England Law School.

The Maine Grievance Commission found Scott guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Scott represented the Personal Representative (PR) for the Brownell estate. During his representation, he failed to timely file a federal estate tax return, or request an extension of time to do so.

Scott also failed to recommend timely payment of the federal estate tax due, all of which resulted in significant monetary penalties and interests. The penalties and interest incurred by the estate as a result of Scott’s gross negligence cost the estate approximately $134,000.

In another matter, Scott was involved in the conveyances of three parcels of real estate. While involved in the matter, Scott misinformed (lied) to another attorney about the ownership status of the real estate. Scott never took any affirmative steps to correct the false statements he made to the attorney regarding the status of the property in question.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the grievance panel punished Scott by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (December 2012) Scott continues to practice in East Boothbay, Maine.
