Attorney Jarvis Claiborne of Opelousas, LA; ethical goblin

The state of Louisiana presented Jarvis J. Claiborne with a law license in 198 4 after he graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU) School of Law.

The Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board found Jarvis guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to respond to opposing counsel’s repeated written requests for discovery responses
  • Failed to communicate with Ms. Jack regarding the status of her case
  • The defendant in client’s case filed an ex parte (one-sided) motion to dismiss the case due to abandonment
  • The judge signed an order dismissing the case
  • Jarvis failed to inform Ms. Jack of the court’s dismissal of her case
  • Because Ms. Jack could not contact Jarvis, she learned of the dismissal when she checked the court record of her case
  • Neglected client’s case
  • Knowingly made a false statement of material fact in connection with a disciplinary matter (Screw you, said Jarvis!)
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Failed to communicate with a client
  • Engaged in conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Louisiana Supreme Court punished Jarvis by gifting him with a complimentary 1-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. January 2023), Jarvis practices his so-called brand of law at 814 North Main Street in Opelousas, Louisiana.
