The state of Louisiana presented Patrick A. Giraud with a law license in 2005 after he graduated from Louisiana State University (LSU) School of Law.

 

The Louisiana Attorney Disciplinary Board found Patty guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Wrote check on insufficient funds account (rubber)
  • Balance in trust account to satisfy pending client expenditures was in deficit by $13,110.01
  • Regularly paid non-client expenses and made cash withdrawals from his trust account totaling $33,219.33 over a period of five months
  • Failed to safeguard client funds
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  • Testimony of forensic auditor Angelina Marcellino concluded that Patty had misused and converted trust account funds totaling between $13,000 and as much as $33,000
  • Improperly used trust account fuds to support a drug habit
  • Violated duties he owed to his clients
  • Acted negligently, knowingly and intentionally in mishandling his trust account
  • Misconduct involved multiple offenses

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Louisiana Supreme Court punished Patty by gifting him with a complimentary 6-month suspension of his law license.
