The state of Iowa presented Van Mackey Plumb with a law license in 1992.

 

The Iowa Supreme Court Attorney Disciplinary Board found Van guilty of the following misconduct.

 

Van’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Neglected legal matter entrusted to him
  • Failed to take steps to preserve client’s right to appeal
  • Violated court order to file notice of appeal

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Van by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

 

Van’s 2nd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to fully cooperate with ethics investigators (Up yours, said Van!)
  • Failed to respond to client concerns regarding divorce matter
  • Neglected legal matter entrusted to him
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice law

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Van by gifting him with a second complimentary reprimand.

 

Van’s 3rd bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Knowingly made false statement to press re: judge’s trial conduct

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Van by gifting him with a third complimentary reprimand.

 

Van’s 4th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to provide competent representation (moron)
  • Neglected client’s legal matter
  • Failed to deposit client funds in separate client trust account
  • Failed to promptly deliver funds owing to client
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice law
  • Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Van by gifting him with a complimentary 2-month suspension of his law license.

 

Van’s 5th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice law
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up Yours, said Van!)
  • Failed to deposit unearned fees into trust account
  • Failed to refund unearned fees (cheater)
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Van by gifting him with a complimentary 18-month suspension of his law license.

 

Van’s 6th bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Revealed client confidences involving divorce matter
  • Took action to merely harass another
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice law
  • Failed to cooperate with ethics investigators (Up Yours, said Van!)
  • Failed to refund unearned fees (cheater)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Iowa Supreme Court punished Van by gifting him with a complimentary 18-month suspension of his law license.
