Attorney Tammy Davis of Brookville, IN; deceptive loser

The state of Indiana presented Tammy Rena Davis with a law license in 1999 after she graduated from the University of California at Berkeley Law School.

The Indiana Commission on Judicial Qualifications found Tammy guilty of the following misconduct.

Tammy’s misconduct took place while she was a candidate for judge of the Franklin County Circuit Court in 2012.

In her zeal to defeat incumbent judge Steven J. Fox, Tammy went about fabricating false facts about him in an attempt to paint him as unqualified to sit on the bench.

Judge Fox presided over a murder case involving David Ison, who pled guilty to killing Roy and Angie Napier, two of their children and a neighbor in September 2011. Cox subsequently sentenced Ison to life without the possibility of parole in March 2012.

In a July 2012 article in the Brookville Democrat, Tammy stated that Judge Cox had ordered Ison’s prison sentence for earlier crimes to be modified because the pair had been “boyhood friends.” In truth, Judge Cox and Ison had never been boyhood friends, and Tammy knew for a fact they weren’t. However, Tammy refused a request for a retraction of her falsehood.

Tammy personally authorized her campaign committee to post a statement on her campaign Web site that read:

“A man [Ison] found guilty of more than 20 offenses as an adult, most of them violent felonies, had Judge Steve Fox order his immediate release without a motion from the defendant. David Ison must have enjoyed avoiding attorney fees while Steve Cox worked for him for free.”

In July and early August 2012, Tammy authorized additional campaign advertisements to be published in local newspapers indicating that Ison would have been in prison in February 2011, rather than committing crimes in Ohio, if Judge Cox had not ordered Ison released in July 2010 on probation.

As punishment for her deceptive campaign practices, the Indiana Supreme Court barred Tammy from seeking any judicial office for five years (through 2018).

As we speak (ca. July 2014), Tammy practices at 506 Main Street in Brookville, Indiana.
