Attorney Patrick Roberts of Peru, IN: convicted drunk

The state of Indiana provided Patrick Joseph Roberts with a law license in 1969.

The Indiana Disciplinary Commission found Patrick guilty of the following misconduct.

On at least two occasions, Patrick has been convicted of alcohol-related driving offenses (DUI). In their rulings, the comedians sitting on the Indiana Supreme Court cited the following so-called factors in mitigation the severity of Patrick’s criminal convictions.

That prior to his latest conviction, Patrick voluntarily cont act ed the direct or of the Indiana Supreme Court Judges and Lawyers Assistance program (JLAP), which referred him to an alcohol and substance abuse counselor. Both JLAP and the counselor’s assessments agreed that Patrick did not suffer from alcohol dependency, but that instead he used alcohol inappropriately.

Apparently, if Patrick was a confirmed boozer, the comedians wouldn’t have dismissed the ethics complaints against him. Isn’t that just delightful?

As a consequence of her misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Indiana Supreme Court punished Patrick by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. January 2013) Patrick practices with the Roberts Law Firm at 11 South Broadway in Peru, Indiana.
