Attorney Stephen Stark of Nampa, ID; lying Dufus

The state of Idaho provided Stephen D. Stark with a law license in 1990.

The Idaho Bar Counsel’s Office found Stephen guilty of the following misconduct.
  1. Failure to act with reasonable diligence on client’s behalf
  2. Representing a client when a blatant conflict of interest existed between the client and Stephen
  3. Involved in conflicts of interest involving family interests
  4. Knowingly made a false statement of fact or law to a trial court
Stephen’s false statements to a court related to his representation of his son who was charged with attempted strangulation, misdemeanor domestic assault and destruction of a telecommunication line in Ada County. The charges came about from an incident in which his son allegedly assaulted his then-wife in front of their children. A public defender was appointed to represent Stephen’s son.

Subsequently, Stephen filed a divorce complaint on his son’s behalf in Canyon County requesting his son be awarded sole custody of the children. Stephen concealed from the court the pending domestic violence case and instead stated that his son was unaware of any proceeding that could affect the divorce/custody proceedings.

Stephen’s Hyperbolic (BS) Defense to Lying to the Court

Stephen had the audacity to defend his lie to the court regarding his son’s pending domestic violence matter by saying he did so because thought the charges would ultimately be dismissed. Seemingly Stephen missed his calling as a standup comedian.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Idaho Supreme Court punished Stephen by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. May 2012) Stephen practices law at 1019 Second Street South in Nampa, Idaho.
