Attorney Donyale Hooper-Reavis of Washington DC; ethical misfit

The state of New Jersey presented Donyale Yvette Hooper-Reavis with a law license in 2003 after she graduated from the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. Donyale also received a license to practice law in Massachusetts in 2001, New York in 2003, and the District of Columbia in 2006.

The New Jersey Office of Attorney Ethics found Donyale guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Improperly assisted in preparation of a civil complaint in Philadelphia Common Pleas Court even though she was not licensed to practice in Pennsylvania
  • Repeatedly communicated directly with the adversary, despite knowing that he was represented by counsel
  • Continued to contact the adversary directly, despite being requested to refrain from doing so twice by the adversary’s attorney
  • Misconduct adversely reflects on fitness to practice

As a direct consequence of her misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Donyale by gifting her with a complimentary admonishment.

As we speak (ca. March 2022), Donyale practices her so-called brand of law with Reavis and Associates at 1300 Street NW in Washington, DC.
