Attorney Matthew Maddox of Stamford, CT; ethical misfit

The state of Connecticut provided Matthew M. Maddox with a law license in 1991.

The Statewide Grievance Committee found Matthew guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Matthew met with a woman regarding a potential medical malpractice claim against a convalescent home in regards to the death of her husband.

Shortly thereafter, the woman provided Matthew with all of the necessary medical records. After a cursory review of the medical records was performed, Matthew told the woman in a letter that he could not obtain an opinion from a medical provider to support a certificate of good faith, as was required by Connecticut law.

The woman received Matthew’s letter three (3) days before the statute of limitations expired to file a lawsuit. At the time, Matthew did nothing to protect the woman’s claims. In fact, he failed to seek the automatic ninety-day extension of the statute of limitations provided by Connecticut law.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Statewide Grievance Committee punished Matthew by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. May 2013) Matthew practices with the Law Offices of Matthew M. Maddox LLC at 810 Bedford Street in Stamford, Connecticut.
