Attorney Thomas Blumenthal of Denver; ethical leprechaun

The state of Colorado presented Thomas Blumenthal with a law license in 1986 after he graduated from Willamette University of Law School.

Disciplinary Counsel found Tommy guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to provide client with written fee agreement
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Failed to communicate basis or rate of fee to client
  • Paid himself client’s entire retainer w/o any accounting to the client
  • Failed to maintain required receipt and disbursement records of all trust accounts
  • Wrote checks drawn on insufficient funds (rubber)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court punished Tommy by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 1-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Colorado Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Tommy.

Because Attorney Misfits in Colorado are held to a much lower standard of conduct then everyone else, Tommy was never criminally charged for writing bad checks.

As we speak, (ca. January 2015), Tommy practices at 1439 Court Place in Denver, Colorado.

Warning: Tommy does not carry legal malpractice insurance
