Attorney Gerard Durward of Birmingham, AL; ticket fixer

The state of Alabama presented Gerard John Durward with a law license in 1966 after he graduated from the Birmingham School of Law.

From about 1993 through 2012, Gerard was employed as a part –time Municipal Judge for the City of Irondale in Jefferson County, Alabama.

The Alabama Court of the Judiciary found Gerard guilty of the following misconduct.

In December 2010, an Irondale police officer issued a speeding ticket to Michael Patrick Durward, who just happened to be Gerard’s 35-year-old son.

One week later, Judge Durward, acting in his official judicial capacity as a municipal court judge, entered an order dismissing the speeding ticket against his son Michael. In so acting, Judge Durward acted outside of a court session, outside the presence of the defendant and the municipal prosecutor, and without any request from or any communication with the prosecutor.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Alabama Supreme Court punished Gerard by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. August 2013), Gerard the Ticket Fixer practices with Durward & Cromer at 2015 2nd Avenue North in Birmingham, Alabama.
