Judge Yuriy Marinov of Sofia Bulgaria; convicted crook

Unfortunately, Yuriy was successful in duping the voters into electing him as a Sofia City Court Judge.

While sitting as a Judge with the Kyustendi District Court in Sofia, Bulgaria, Judge Marinov was arrested on suspicion of accepting a bribe of BGN 24,000 ($16,630 US) from construction entrepreneurs for the purpose of settling a case in their favor, which involved an inspection statement work BGN 1.4 million ($912,305 US).

Subsequently, Judge Marinov was punished when he was gifted by a fellow judge with a complimentary suspended three-year sentence. In truth, Judge Marinov didn’t receive any meaningful punishment for accepting a bribe.

One has to wonder how many other bribes Judge Marinov accepted while sitting on the bench that was never discovered.

Let this be a lesson to former Judge Gerald Garson of New York City who was convicted of accepting bribes in divorce cases. Garson spent nearly three years in prison after he was convicted. In the future, if any judge in the U.S. of A. is thinking about accepting a bribe, he/she might want to consider moving to Bulgaria.
