Magistrate Judge Sharon Larry-Bavli of Israel; ethical gremlin

The state of Colorado presented Robert Abrams with a law license in 1968 after he graduated from the University of Denver School of Law.

The Ombudsman for Judges found Sharon guilty of the following misconduct.

  • When Berland entered court, Sharon photographed him with her cell phone
  • Statements regarding the Berland hearing were inappropriate and hurtful
  • Failed to exhibit self-restraint
  • Failed to respect all persons appearing before her
  • Failed to act objectively and neutral when dealing with litigants
  • Conduct harmed the entire judicial system

During a court hearing involving the extension of the arrest of Eliezer Berland, Berland’s attorney detailed his elderly client’s medical issues to Sharon. In response, Sharon said:

  • "I understood he's not a 17-year-old chicken."
  • "Let him take (or "he can eat") Mentos."

All that remains now is to see what if any punishment is meted out to Mary by the Ombudsman for Judges.

As we speak (ca. May 2020), Sharon continues to sit as a Magistrate Judge in Jerusalem’s Magistrate Court in Jerusalem, Israel.
