Judge Donald Bird of Saskatchewan; scofflaw, ethical gremlin

Sometime in May 2008, Judge Donald Bird sits on the provincial court in Meadow Lake which is located in Saskatchewan; was criminally arrested on two counts of assault and two counts of uttering death threats.

Hmmm, death threats you say. Is it possible that Judge Donald Bird threatened to kill someone for threatening to expose him as and ethical gnome?

Isn't it comforting to know that the good folks in Saskatchewan are blessed with having an accomplished pugilist on the Court?

After hearing of the criminal charges lodged against Judge Donald Bird, Chief Judge Carol Snell of the provincial court in Saskatchewan “unassigned” Judge Donald Bird on December 4, meaning he would no longer sit on the court or hear any matters during the pendancy of the criminal charges lodged against him.

However, in an attempt to teach Judge Donald Bird a lesson and more importantly to assure that judges in Canada are held to a “lower standard of conduct” just like their brethren here in the U S of A, his being “unassigned” from the Court by Chief Judge Carol Snell came with the caveat that he would continue to draw his substantial judicial salary.

In other words, the overtaxed citizens of Canada are being forced to pay Judge Donald Bird for providing them with absolutely no services of any kind.

As of this date (ca. September 2009) it appears as though Judge Donald Bird has not yet been tried for his criminal conduct; however, he continues to receive his undeserved government salary.

Is Saskatchewan a great country of what?
