US Judge George Young of Florida – 2013 Codger Award Winner

The state of Florida presented George Cressler Young with a law license in 1940 after he graduated from the University of Florida Law School.

President John Kennedy (JFK) was duped into nominating George as a U.S. District Court Judge for the Southern District of Florida in 1961. Therefore, George has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough for the last fifty-three (53) years.

George didn’t receive the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the southern Florida area. He received it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

George was born in 1916 in Maquoketa, Iowa. Therefore, George is ninety-eight (98) years-old as we speak (April 2014).

In 1984 George assumed senior status, which means he was only required to work 10-hours-a-week while still receiving a full salary of between $84,000 (1984) and $199,100 (2014).

George was eligible to fully retire in 1981 and would have received a pension of $70,300 for the balance of his life. However, remaining on senior status guaranteed George that he would receive all salary increases through 2014, which increased his salary by $126,100.

As we speak (ca. April 2014), George remains as a senior district court judge for the Southern District of Florida.
