Judge George Van Hook Jr. of El Dorado, AR; Judge Roy Bean Wannabee 

The state of Arkansas presented George Ellis Van Hook Jr.  with a law license in 1973 after she graduated from the University of Arkansas Law School.

FYI: Judge Roy Bean was an infamous Justice of the Peace and saloon owner in Texas who called himself the "The Law West of the Pecos." Roy was also affectionately referred to as the Hanging Judge.

The Arkansas Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission found Judge Van Hook guilty of the following misconduct.

• Verbally berated party appearing in his court
• Refused to accept state’s dismissal of charges against defendant
• Regularly appears angry, rude and hostile towards litigants and their attorneys
• Found defendant guilty of criminal offense even though prosecutor dismissed the charges and no evidence was presented to the court
• Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
• Knowingly and repeatedly violated defendant’s due process rights
• Engaged in discourteous and demeaning behavior towards female litigant
• Called a litigant “stupid” during court hearing
• Had spectator arrested
• Repeatedly issued arrest warrants for folks who had never been charged with any crime
• Regularly uses profanity in the courtroom
• Served as his own witness to support improperly issued warrant
• Failed to perform competently (Dufus)

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Arkansas Judicial Discipline and Disability Commission punished George by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. April 2015), George continues to sit as a Union County District Court judge in El Dorado, Arkansas.
