Former Judge Edwin Pittman of Ridgeland, MS; ethical goblin

Unfortunately, the state of Mississippi provided Edwin Lloyd Pitman with a law license in 1960 after he graduated from the University of Mississippi School of Law.

The Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance found Eddie guilty of engaging in the following misconduct, all of which occurred while she was sitting as a Municipal Court Judge in Hattiesburg.

  • Represented a defendant after Eddie had presided over proceedings concerning this same defendant, Arturo Euriquez Moreno on the same criminal charges
  • Engaged in willful misconduct
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • After acting in his judicial capacity in the case against Moreno, Eddie accepted $4,000 from Moreno's family as a retainer to represent Moreno in these same criminal charges
  • Eddie appeared in circuit court on Moreno's behalf on several occasions
  • Eddie’s conduct gave the appearance of impropriety because he signed court documents and set bond for Moreno as a municipal judge, and subsequently served as Moreno's attorney on the same charges
  • Failed to uphold the integrity and independence of the judiciary.
  • Brought his judicial office into disrepute

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Mississippi Supreme Court punished Eddie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand and assessed costs of $100.00.

As we speak (ca. May 2024), Eddie practices his so-called brand of law at 800 Avery Blvd in Ridgeland, Mississippi
