Judge Frank Sutton of Jackson, MS; ethical ogre

The Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance found Nell guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • After Amanda Howard’s arrest for prostitution, Frankie called the investigator and asked him if he could “help him out” on the prostitution charge against Howard because he knew her family
  • On the same day that the investigator told Frankie he would not help him out, Frankie sua sponte (on his own initiative, remanded Howard’s prostitution charge to the file
  • After Barry Jones was arrested and charged with marijuana possession, a pastor at Frankie’s church asked him if he could help Jones
  • After the pastor contacted Frankie, contacted the investigator to find out whether Jones was charged with a misdemeanor or felony
  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Conduct brought his office into disrepute
  • Failed to preserve and protect the integrity of the judiciary
  • Engaged in illegal ex parte (one-sided) communications

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Mississippi Supreme Court punished Frankie by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand and a $500.00 fine.

As we speak (ca. April 2021) Frankie continues to practice his brand of jurisprudence as a judge of the Hinds County Justice Court in Jackson, Mississippi.
