Judge Kelvin Black of Denver, NC; slacker

The state of North Carolina presented Kelvin D. Black with a law license in 1977 after he graduated from Wake Forest University Law School.

The North Carolina Judicial Standards Commissionon Judicial Performance found Kelvin guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
  • Conduct brought judicial office into disrepute
  • Failed to act in manner promoting public confidence in judiciary
  • Failed to act with due diligence (slacker)
  • Misconduct caused adverse consequences to litigants
  • Failed to enter order in case for 2 years

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Judicial Misfits sitting on the North Carolina Supreme Court punished Kelvin by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. April 2016), Kelvin continues to sit as a Superior Court judge in Denver, North Carolina.
