Judge Michael Thornsbury of Morgantown, WV; indicted bully

The state of West Virginia presented Michael with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from the University of Akron Law School.

A federal grand jury recently indicated Judge Thornsbury for engaging in the following criminal conduct.

Judge Thornsbury found it acceptable to engage in an extramarital relationship with his secretary. He then went on and conspired to plant illegal drugs on her husband’s pickup, and also conspired to have the husband arrested for thefts he did not commit. Thornsbury also conspired to commandeer a state grand jury to oppress the husband and his family.

After the husband was the victim of an assault, the Dishonorable Thornsbury arranged for the husband, rather than the perpetrator, to receive “an exceptionally harsh sentence.”

The indictment listed West Virginia State Trooper Brandon Moore and Jarrod Fletcher, Mingo County’s director of Homeland Security who is Thornsbury’s business partner as assisting in the conspiracy; however, neither of them was indicted.

The West Virginia Supreme Court suspended Thornsbury’s law license, thereby mandating his removal from the bench.

All that remains now is to wait for the outcome of Thornsbury’s criminal trial.
