Judge Phillip Gaujot of Morgantown, WV; scofflaw, loser

The State of West Virginia presented Phillip T. Gaujot with a law license in 1971 after he graduated from the West Virginia University School of Law.

The Judicial Investigation Commission found Judge Gaujot guilty of engaging in the following misconduct.

  • Failed to comply with the law (scofflaw)
  • Created the appearance of impropriety
  • Abused the prestige of his judicial office
  • Failed to be patient, dignified, and courteous to litigants, jurors, witnesses, lawyers, court staff, court officials, and others with whom he dealt with in his official judicial capacity
  • Failed to perform all judicial duties fairly and impartially
  • Failed to assure that his judicial duties took precedence over his personal activities
  • Made inappropriate statements to a newspaper reporter

As a direct consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Investigation Commission punished Phil by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

As we speak (ca. June 2022), Phil continues to dispense his so-called idea of jurisprudence as a Monongalia County Magistrate Judge in Morgantown, West Virginia.
