Retired Judge Cornelius Vaughey of Rockville, MD; ethical dwarf

The state of Maryland presented Cornelius J. Vaughey with a law license in 1965 after he graduated from the University of Maryland Law School.

After porking out at the public trough for twenty-one years (1984 to 2005) as a Montgomery County District Court judge, Cornelius retired. To continue with his glutinous appetite for public pork, Cornelius then went on the visiting retired judge circuit. This allowed the Maryland Court of Appeals to appoint Cornelius to preside over cases throughout the state.

The Maryland Commission on Judicial Disabilities found Judge Vaughey guilty of the following misconduct.

  • Failed to comply with the law
  • Failed to promote confidence in the judiciary
  • Exhibited bias and prejudice towards a litigant
  • Failed to display order and decorum during court proceedings
  • Failed to be patient and courteous to those appearing before him

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Cornelius by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. August 2016), Cornelius continues to receive assignments to sit on and does sit on cases throughout the state of Maryland compliments of the Maryland Court of Appeals.
