Judge Steven Michels of Sunnyside, WA; ethical dwarf 

The state of Washington presented Steven L. Michels with a law license in 1975 after he 
graduated from Lewis & Clark University Law School. 

The Judicial Commission found Stevie guilty of the following misconduct. 

• Failed to disqualify himself from cases when required to so act

• Failed to be faithful to the law 

• Acted as both judge and lawyer for client in the same case

• Engaged in an egregious conflict of interest

• Failed to act with integrity and impartiality

• Deprived defendants of their constitutional rights to representation

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the 
Washington State SupremeCourt punished Stevie by gifting him with a complimentary 
120-day suspension from the bench.  

As we speak (February 2016), Stevie continues to sit as a Sunnyside Municipal Court 
judge in Sunnyside, Washington.
