Do y’all know what a Catholic Priests’ housing is called? As a young boy living in Toledo, Ohio, My Mom who is a devout Catholic and is now 93-years-old (ca. Feb 2012), made me attend grade school (1st through 8th grade) at Holy Rosary Cathedral on Collingwood Blvd. on the west side of Toledo.
The teachers at the school were all Ursaline nuns, all of whom resided in a convent that was also located on Collingwood Blvd.
While at Rosary Cathedral my mother took affirmative steps to make sure I was an alter boy and also a member of the choir, which meant I spent a lot of time at Church.
Immediately adjacent to the grade school was the housing unit for the Priests.
It wasn’t until just recently that I figured out why the Priest’s house was called a “Rectory.”
And lastly, in hindsight, I’m glad I never visited the “Rectory” if ya know what I mean.
