Attorney John Corbett of Chicago; ethical misfit

The state of Illinois presented John J. Corbett with a law license in 1981 after he graduated from Harvard University Law School.

Disciplinary Counsel found Johnny guilty of the following misconduct.

As a consequence of bad bookkeeping and his failure to properly reconcile his trust account, over a four-year period, Johnny converted a total of $148,545.70 in settlement funds belonging to clients and medical lien holders involving thirteen different matters.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Illinois Supreme Court punished Johnny by gifting him with a complimentary 5-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. March 2015), Johnny practices with the Law Offices of John J. Corbett at 111 West Washington Street in Chicago, Illinois.
