Attorney Zakeya Brookins of Los Angeles; repeat offender

The state of California provided Zakeya L. Brookins with a law lice nse in 2001 after she graduated from Howard University Law School in Washington DC.

The California State Bar found Zakeya guilty of the following misconduct

Zakeya’s 1^stbite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Improperly allowed employees to retain clients on her behalf
• Was rarely in office to supervise employee 
• Failed to perform legal services competently (Moron)
• Failed to appear at hearing on client’s behalf
• Failed to advise client of status of legal matter
• Failed to take any steps to void bench warrant for cliet
• Failed to refund any portion of $4,000 advance fee
• Failed to release client file to new attorney in divorce action

Zakeya’s 2^ndbite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

• Failed to perform legal services competently in a perso nal injury lawsuit
• Despite advising court she was withdrawing, she never did so
• Failed to respond to discovery on client’s behalf
• Moved out-of-state without notifying client, opposing counsel or the court

As a consequence of her misconduct the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Bar Court punished Zakeya by gifting her with a complimentary stayed 1-year suspension of her law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the California State Bar Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Zakeya.  

As we speak (ca. February 2015), Zakeya practices at 4555 West Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd in Los Angeles, California.
