Attorney Mark Calello of Bloomfield, NJ; repeat offender

The state of New Jersey presented Marc A. Calello with a law license in 1989 after he graduated from Seton Hall University Law School. Mark also received a law license from the District of Columbia in 1996.

The New Jersey Office of Ethics found Mark guilty of the following misconduct.

Mark’s 1st bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree

  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Engaged in conflict of interest
  • Commingled client funds with personal funds
  • Failed to communicate with client
  • Provided clients with improper contingent fee agreements
  • Failed to notify client/third party of receipt of funds in which they had an interest

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Mark by gifting him with a complimentary 3-month suspension of his law license.

Mark found it acceptable to use of flawed contingent fee agreements and how he settled some clients’ cases without prior notice to the clients through the use of limited powers of attorney authorizing him to settle the cases as he thought were in the clients’ best interests. Calello also failed to provide his clients with written settlement statements prior to the distribution of proceeds.

In two instances Calello settled cases on behalf of clients who were deceased, without informing the insurance company that his clients were dead.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the New Jersey Supreme Court punished Mark by gifting him with a complimentary 3-month suspension of his law license.

As we speak (ca. April 2016), Mark practices at 395 Franklin Street in Bloomfield, New Jersey.
