Former Judge Diane Ritchie of San Jose; incompetent boob

The state of California presented Diane Ritchie with a law licen se in 19 81 after she graduated from Golden Gate University Law School in San Francisco.

In 2008, Diane Ritchie succeeded in duping the voters in San Jose of electing her as a San Jose County Superior Court judge.

During her reign on the bench, Diane was widely viewed by members of the bar and some of her fellow judges as an embarrassment on the bench who was:

• Incapable of dealing properly with felony cases
• Excessively reliant upon her staff for basic information
• Incompetent in interpreting statutes (Dumbo)
• Lacking in professional demeanor
• Presence on bench undermined integrity of judicial system
• Accepted guilty pleas without assuring defendant was aware of constitutionally protected rights
• Placed husband in adjoining witness chair to provide moral support during her first months on the bench
• In handling criminal cases, routinely looked to her clerk for direction in imposing sentences
• In numerous case, her clerk prompted almost everything Judge Judy said (puppet master)

After repeated stories appeared in the San Jose Mercury News regarding the incompetence of Judge Judy, she lost her attempt to be reelected in November 2014. Put simply, the voters were not about to place this incompetent boob back on the bench for another eight years.
