The DC Bar presented Laurence A. Elgin with a law license in 1969.
The DC Bar Counsel found Larry guilty of the following misconduct.

Improperly collected excessive legal fees by billing client’s credit card

Failed to consult with client re: lawsuit filed against her re: Larry’s charges

Entered into settlement with client’s credit card company w/o advising client or giving her opportunity to determine whether her interests were sufficiently protected

Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation

Failed to keep client informed of status of legal matter

Failed to explain matter necessary to allow client to make informed decisions re: representation

Failed to provide client with written statement as to basis for fees

Engaged in a conflict of interest

Engaged in conduct prejudicial to the administration of justice
As a consequence of him misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the DC Bar Counsel punished Larry by gifting him with a complimentary 180-day suspension of his law license.
