Attorney James Schmidt of Xenia, OH; convicted loser

The state of Ohio presented James W. Schmidt with a law license in 1982 after he graduated from Stetson University Law School.

Jimmy had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough. From 1983 to 2010 (27 years), Jimmy served as the Greene County Treasurer.

The Disciplinary Counsel of the Ohio Supreme Court found Jimmy guilty of misconduct.

  • Illegally used government fax machines to conduct private business
  • Used county employees to accept rental fees and write receipts on his behalf
  • Convicted of having illegal interest in public contract
  • Convicted of accepting or soliciting improper compensation
  • Convicted of unauthorized use of government property
  • Engaged in conduct adversely reflecting on fitness to practice law

As a consequence of his misconduct, the cheerleaders for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 12-month suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the Ohio Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Jimmy.

As we speak (ca. November 2014) Jimmy practices at 63 ½ East Main Street, in Xenia, Ohio.
