Former Judge Leigh Darby of Senatobia, MS; bullying loser

The state of Mississippi presented Leigh Ann Darby with a law license in 1999 after she graduated from the University of Mississippi Law School.

Leigh’s misconduct took place while she was the Tate County family master and youth court judge in Senatobia, Mississippi.

The Mississippi Commission on Judicial Performance found Judge Darby guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Judge Darby ordered three 15-year-olds to be given a drug test and incarcerated in the Alcorn County Youth Detention Center in Corinth. The teens were then strip-searched in accordance with jail policy upon their arrival at the jail and were jailed for a total of three days.

The three juveniles were arrested after a compliant was filed with the police that they were walking through a woman’s yard. Subsequently, all three were found not guilty of trespassing.

The Supreme Court ruled that Darby lacked jurisdiction over the Tate County Youth Court. Moreover, she had no lawful authority to order the drug tests or to order the teenagers sent to Alcorn County.

And lastly, the teenagers did not have a lawyer and Darby violated their due process rights when she failed to hold a detention hearing before ordering them arrested.

As a consequence of her misconduct, the Mississippi Supreme Court punished Leigh by ordering her removed from the bench.

Despite her egregious misconduct, the apologists for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Mississippi Bar Association never took any disciplinary action against Darby
