The state of Wisconsin presented James D. Thibodeau with a law license in 1984 after he graduated Marquette University Law School.

The Office of Lawyer Registration (OLR) found Jimmy guilty of the following misconduct.

• Illegally held $21,000 in personal funds in his trust account to avoid seizure of said funds by tax authorities
• Failed to perform required monthly reconciliations of trust account
• Failed to hold client and third party funds in trust
• Failed to maintain required transaction register
• Improperly deposited personal funds into his trust account
• Failed to maintain required client ledgers
• Filed false certificates with State Bar relating to compliance with trust account and recordkeeping requirements

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Wisconsin Supreme Court punished Jimmy by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.
