Judge Wesley Edwards of Stephentown, NY; repeat offender

The state of New York provided Wesley R. Edwards with a law license in 1991 after she graduated from the University of Saskatchewan Law School.

The New York Judicial Commission found Wesley guilty of the following misconduct.

Wesley’s 1st bite at the Judicial Misfit Apple Tree

In one matter, when Wesley’s son Gregory was ticketed for speeding, Wesley intervened by asking for special treatment from fellow Judge Cioch.

On at least four occasions Wesley intervened on his son’s behalf in another court by engaging in improper ex parte communications. Each and every time, Wesley discussed the merits of his son’s case and invoked the prestige of his judicial office.

When questioned by the commission regarding his improper intervention on his son’s behalf, Wesley had the chutzpah to testify that he was merely attempting to expedite the cases involving his son. In its ruling, the commission stated that Wesley’s defense “shows a regrettable lack of candor.” Put simply, the commission said Wesley was a liar!

As a consequence of her misconduct, the Patron Saints for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Wesley by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

  • Violated a party’s due process rights
  • Failed to exhibit professional competence in the law (Dumbo)
  • Engaged in improper ex parte (one sided) conversations with defendant
  • Failed to be faithful to the law
  • Failed to afford all parties to be heard

As a consequence of her misconduct, the Patron Saints for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Wesley by gifting him with a complimentary censure.

As we speak (ca. October 2014), Wesley continues to sit as a Justice of the Stephentown Town Court in Rensselaer County, New York.
