Attorney Thomas Burns of Modesto, CA; ethical misfit

The state of California provided Thomas Joseph Burns with a law license in 1983 after he graduated from Santa Clara University Law School.

The California State Bar Court found Tommy guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Tommy convicted for assault with a firearm with the enhancement that he discharged a firearm at an occupied car and caused great bodily injury to a passenger.

The incident took place was Tommy was driving home from his job as a reserve police officer. Another car pulled alongside his and the passenger leaned out and shattered Burns' window with a baseball bat. Thinking he may have been shot at, Tommy took a gun from his glove compartment fired a single shot at the other car, striking the back seat passenger in the face. As a result, the passenger lost several teeth and part of her gum.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the California Bar Court punished Tommy by gifting him with a complimentary stayed 2-year suspension of his law license.

In truth, the comedians sitting on the California State Bar Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Tommy.

As we speak (ca. November 2014), Tommy practices with the Law Office of Thomas J. Burns at 5250 North Palm Avenue in Fresno, California.
