Judge Terrence Walters of Wabasha, MN; lazy loser

The state of Minnesota presented Terrence M. Walters with a law license in 1976 after he graduated from Florida State University Law School.

Former Gov. Jesse Ventura was duped into appointing Terrence as a Third District Court judge in 2003. Terrence didn’t receive the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the greater Minneapolis area. He received the appointment because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks.

• Failed to be patient, dignified and courteous to those appearing before him
• Failed to properly supervise office staff
• Failed to perform duties fairly and impartially
• Failed to promote public confidence in the judiciary
• Illegally tried a defendant in absentia (defendant not present)
• Failed to impose sentence as agreed to by DA and defendant

In one matter, Lazy Terrence failed to supervise a court assistant. Terrence never discussed the need for accurate timesheets with his assistant and did not attempt to ascertain or ensure that the hours the assistant reported were accurate.

A subsequent investigation by the Minnesota Judicial Branch determined that over the course of 12 two-week pay periods from January 30 through July 16, 2013, the assistant was overpaid for 258 hours in which he never worked.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the Patron Saints for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Terrence by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. October 2014), Terrence continues to sit as a judge in Wabasha, Minnesota, which is about 90 miles southeast of Minneapolis.
