Judge Larry Buffington of Prentiss, MS; ethical dwarf

The state of Mississippi presented Larry Buffington with a law license in 1980 after he graduated from the MississippiCollegeLawSchool.

Former Gov. Fife Symington III was duped into appointing Dave as a Superior Court Judge in 1994. Dave didn’t receive the appointment because he was the most qualified attorney in the Tucson area; he received it because he had proven to be a reliable lackey for the local political hacks. 

The Commission on Judicial Performance found Larry guilty of the following misconduct.

Larry found it acceptable to issue illegal subpoenas to county supervisors to appear before him to answer questions about who leaked information to the media about his appointment of a former state justice as a Simpson County Youth Court public defender.

Larry ordered supervisors to hire Oliver Diaz Jr. as a Youth Court public defender. At a subsequent meeting Larry explained to the commissioners why he hired Diaz.

Larry subsequently admitted that Diaz told him he needed one more year of employment with the state to qualify for a state pension. Put simply, Larry decided to scam the taxpayers so that his friend Diaz could collect a pension he clearly wasn’t entitled too.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission recommended that Larry be punished by gifting him with a complimentary reprimand.

As we speak (ca. August 2014), Larry is employed as a Senior Status Judge and works at 122 Columbia Avenue in Prentiss, Mississippi.
