Attorney Lester Krasno of Pottsville, PA; convicted thief

The state of Pennsylvania presented Lester A. Krasno with a law license in 1969 after he graduated from Villanova University Law School.

The Disciplinary Board of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court found Mike guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Lester found it acceptable to illegally collect more than $170,000 in fees from black lung clients. Lester illegally accepted over $47,000 in unauthorized black lung fees from 10 clients. His average fee ranged from $3,500 to $7,755. However, Lester well knew that the Dept. of Labor must approve any fee claims and that the normal fee ranged from $350 to $500. Put simply, Lester the Thief was illegally charging as much as 15 times the normal fee allowed by the federal government.

After he was criminally charged, Lester pleaded guilty in federal court to charging excessive and unauthorized fees for helping clients (victims) obtain disability benefits. After he pleaded guilty, Lester was sentenced to six months in the Allenwood federal prison and was fined $10,000.

In addition to his prison sentence, Lester was ordered to repay 66 clients a total of $173,774.80 for fees he illegally collected, which was the largest amount for any lawyer in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Virginia who violated the black lung fee regulations. In other words, Lester was the Premier Thief in the tri-state area.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the patron saints for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Disciplinary Board punished Lester by gifting him with a complimentary 30-month suspension of his law license.

Unbelievably, the comedians sitting on the Disciplinary Board voted to reinstate Lester the Convicted Criminal’s law license. Apparently, they felt Lester had a constitutional right to earn a dishonest living.

As one would suspect, Lester makes no mention of his criminal conviction for ripping-off black lung clients on his self-serving website at www.krasnolaw.com. Apparently, Lester decided to conceal this highly relevant information so as to not limit his future victim pool.

It takes a special breed of dirt bag (my apologies to dirt bags) to knowingly cheat individuals suffering from black lung disease. What’s next for Lester the Thief? Will we find him stealing from blind vendors by paying with an $11 bill and telling the vendor it was a $20 bill.

As we speak (ca. June 2014), Lester practices with Krasno Krasno & Onwudinjo at 400 North Second Street in Pottsville, Pennsylvania.
