Judge Bobby Nichols of Groveton, TX; ethical dwarf

The Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct found Bobby guilty of the following misconduct.

On February 5, 2013, Bobby’s close personal friend was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DUI). The very next day while another judge was preparing to arraign the defendant, Bobby approached him in his office, in the presence of court staff and asked if he could conduct the arraignment rather than the assigned judge.

Bobby then arraigned his personal friend and set a personal recognizance (no cash required) bond for her release.

Bobby laughingly explained that he let his girlfriend out on a recognizance bond because he knew she would “not run.” Bobby admitted that he had been dating her at the time he arraigned her and set her no-cash bond.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Commission on Judicial Conduct punished Bobby by gifting him with a complimentary admonishment.

As we speak (ca. June 2014), Bobby remains sitting as a Justice of the Peace in Trinity County, Texas.
