Attorney Stacy Morris of New Orleans; ethical goblin

 

The state of Louisiana presented Stacy Lynn Morris with a law license in 2000 after she graduated from Southern University Law School.

 

The Office of Disciplinary Counsel found Stacy guilty of the following misconduct.

  1. Engaged in conduct involving fraud, deceit, dishonesty or misrepresentation
  2. Assisted another in the illegal practice of law
  3. Made a false statement of face to a tribunal
  4. Failed to provide competent representation (Dufus)
  5. Improperly commingled client funds with personal funds
  6. Failed to return unearned fee (crook)
  7. Failed to communicate with client
  8. Charged an unreasonable fee (cheater)
  9. Shared fees with corporation not licensed to practice law
  10. Failed to provide client with accounting of costs incurred
  11. Failed to safeguard client funds
  12. Converted client funds for personal use
  13. Failed to appreciate wrongful nature of her conduct

As a consequence of her misconduct, the Louisiana Supreme Court punished Stacy by gifting her with a complimentary 1-year suspension of her law license.

 

As we speak (ca. June 2014) Stacy practices with the Human Rights Law Center of LA, Inc. at 1625 North Broad Avenue in New Orleans, Louisiana.
