Judge Michael D’Amico of Buffalo; convict, lifetime porker

The state of New York presented Michael D’Amico with a law license in 1972 after he graduated from the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo.

Over the past thirty-two (32) years, Mike has had his significant snout firmly implanted in the public trough. In 1987, Mike succeeded in duping the voters in the greater Buffalo area into electing him as an Erie County Court Judge.

The New York Commission on Judicial Conduct found Judge D’Amico guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, at about 8:15 p.m. Mike entered the Island Park in Amherst in order to determine whether it had suitable facilities for a family picnic.

Mike then stepped off a roadway into some bushes and, while standing next to a large tree, raised the shorts that he was wearing and exposed his penis. As he was leaving the park, Mike was arrested by two Amherst police offices, one of whom had observed him in the bushes.

Mike then asked why he was being arrested and told the officers that he was an Erie County Court judge. Mike had not been asked about his occupation.

Mike was then taken to police headquarters by two other police officers. On the way, Mike advised those officers that he was an Erie County Court judge, even though he had not been asked about his occupation.

At the police station, Mike spoke to a lieutenant and stated that his arrest would be devastating because of his judicial position. Shortly thereafter, Mike pleaded guilty in the Amherst Town Court to disorderly

conduct.

Clearly Mike attempted to coerce the police officers into giving him the proverbial pass for his criminal conduct based on his repeated statements that he was a Judge. Fortunately, the arresting officers didn’t fall for Mike’s demand for special treatment.

As a consequence of his criminal conviction, the cheerleaders for Judicial Misfits sitting on the New York Commission on Judicial Conduct punished Mike by gifting him with a complimentary admonition.

Unfortunately, as we speak (ca. June 2014), Mike remains sitting as a Erie County Judge in Buffalo, New York.
