State Rep. Charles Van Zant: (R-FL) Today’s “Lunatic” Award Winner
Congratulations to…. State Rep. Charles Van Zant (R-FL) Today’s “Lunatic” Award Winner Charlie is another right wing zealot that cheerfully attacks members of the gay community by spewing forth an assortment of loony theories, all of which are demonstrably false.
In mid-May 2014, Charlie claimed that new educational standards were a secret plot to force students into becoming gay.
During an anti-Common Core conference in March 2014, Charlie argued that the folks implementing Florida’s new education program were secretly attempting to “attract every one of your children to become as homosexual as they possible can.” The loon went on to the crowd, “I’m sorry to report that, but you need to know.”
After being pilloried by and outed by various groups and the media as a demented liar, Charlie refused to back down from his false comment in March during a recent (0520/14) appearance on News 4 in Jacksonville. Charlie stood behind his loony statements he made in March.
It’s hard to imagine that there are enough folks in Charlie’s district to allow him to get elected as a state representative. Clearly, anyone with an I.Q. in the triple digits would never consider casting a vote for this Certified Lunatic.
Congrats Charlie; keep up the good work! We should let everyone know of your amazing record as one of Americas Least Appreciated “Lunatics”; you are far too humble.
