Judge David Prince of Fredonia, NY; ethical dwarf

Judge Prince has served as a Justice of the Pomfret Town Court since 1990 and the Fredonia Village Court since 1997.

• Failed to protect rights of a defendant appearing in his court
• Exhibited bias during arraignment proceedings

While presiding over the arraignment of a defendant on charges arising out of a domestic dispute, Judge Prince failed to advise the defendant of his constitutional rights to assigned counsel and made statements which appeared that he had pre-judged the defendant’s case.

Prince then chastised the alleged victim upon learning that she did not wish to pursue the charges against the defendant, spoke to the woman in an “angry and discourteous manner” and threatened to have her children taken away from her home.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Judicial Misfits sitting on the Judicial Commission punished Dave by gifting him with a complimentary admonishment.

As we speak (ca. June 2014), Judge Prince remains sitting on the bench in Fredonia, New York.
