Former Judge Ellen Leesfield of Coral Gables; Certified Dumbo

The state of Florida presented with a law license in 1979 after she graduated from Nova Southeastern University Law School.

Jeanine succeeded in duping the voters in the Dallas area into electing her as a judge on the Criminal District Court in Dallas.

While sitting on the bench in Miami, Ellen proved she was a Certified Dumbo when she awarded an injunction to Raanan Katz, billionaire and part owner of the Miami Heat. The laughable injunction was to silence Irina Chevaldina, a critic of Katz who had previously sued him for breach of a lease.

Subsequently, Irina hosted a blog that criticized Katz. Katz then filed a defamation suit against Irina. Judge Leesfield then granted an injunction that shut down Irini’s blog.

Judge Leesfield’s injunction was reversed by the Third District Court of Appeals in an opinion written by Third District Court Judge Vance Salter. In his opinion, Salter described Leesfield’s injunction as “a classic example of prior restraint on speech triggering First Amendment concerns.”

Why would anyone expect someone of Leesfield’s ilk to appreciate and/or comprehend the true meaning of “free speech?”

As we speak (ca. May 2014), Leesfield practices with Sanchez-Medina, Gonzales, Quesada, Lage, Crespo, Gomes, Machado & Preire LLP at 201 Alhambra Circle in Coral Gables, Florida.
