In the opinion of the legal community in the greater Toledo, Ohio area, attorneys David R. Pheils, Jr. and E.J. Leizerman have and continue to be number one or number two (interchangeable positions depending on current frauds) in the ranking of corrupt attorneys.

Attorney E.J. Leizerman of Toledo – Anatomy of a dishonest attorney

David R. Pheils, Jr. and E.J. Leizerman were avid competitors for “ethical leper-con of the year” status while they attended the University of Toledo Law School in the early 1970s.
For several years, due to his willingness to engage in unethical behavior, and much to the chagrin of E. J. Leizerman, David R. Pheils, Jr. was officially anointed (and deservedly so) as the No. 1 attorney scumbag in Toledo.
Being the keen competitor that he is, E.J. Leizerman wasn’t going to sit idly by and allow David R. Ph
 eils, Jr. to continually beat him at the “dishonesty” game that Leizerman had perfected over many, many years.
Therefore, attorney E.J. Leizerman decided that he would enlarge his future “victim pool” by obtaining a license to practice his brand of law in Michigan and Tennessee. As a result of his efforts, attorney E. J. Leizerman was successful in being voted the “most dishonest lawyer” in Toledo, Ohio, Nashville, Tennessee and Detroit, Michigan for the years 1995-1998 and 2000.
Unfortunately for attorney E.J. Leizerman, attorney David R. Pheils, Jr. was able to recapture the crown in 1999, 2002, 2005, 2007and 2009.
Despite their acknowledged hatred and contempt for each other, attorney David R. Pheils, Jr. apparently incurred the expense of purchasing a pair of “industrial strength knee pads,” which resulted in attorney E.J. Leizerman agreeing to provide false testimony in Monroe, Michigan on behalf of Pheils ex-partner Dale Crandall (subsequently disbarred and found guilty of extortion by the Ohio State Bar Assn) to assist Leizerman in perpetrating a fraud on the court.
In keeping with their agreed to “quid pro quo” contract of providing perjured testimony on each others behalf, attorney E.J. Leizerman then offered false testimony on Pheils’ behalf in 1996, and then did an encore by perjurying himself on behalf of disbarred attorney Dale Crandall (Pheils' ex-partner) in Delaware, Ohio. This false testimony by attorney E.J. Leizerman, led to Judge Everett Krueger finding him guilty of criminal contempt for giving perjured testimony.
It seems apparent, that in addition to incurring the expense to purchase a set of industrial strenght knee pads that, attorney David R. Pheils, Jr. also purchased a gross or more of "ass-kisser gum" to assuage favor with attorney E. J. Leizerman in an effort to minimize Leizerman's bad breath.
Conclusion
As we speak (ca. Feb. 2010), attorneys E. J. Leizerman and David R. Pheils, Jr. remain committed to proving that they are entitled to the prestigious yearly award in Toledo, Ohio as “Corrupt Attorney of the Year.”
To be fair to these two infamous crooks, I believe that the Toledo Bar Assn should consider giving these dual awards each year for most “corrupt attorney of the year.” In they so acted, attorney David R. Pheils, Jr. and attorney E.J. Leizerman would be the hands-down co-winners year, after year, after year. |
