Attorney Paul Smith of Austin; serial offender

The state of Texas presented Paul Andrew Smith with a law license in 1999 after he graduated from the University of Texas Law College.

A panel of the District 9 Grievance Committee found Paulie guilty of the following misconduct.

In one matter, Paulie represented a client involved in a family law case. During his so-called representation of the client (victim), Paulie failed to submit a written order to the court for the court’s signature as he was required to do.

Making matters worse, Paulie then failed to notify his client that there was no signed written order, and failed to explain the significance of his negligence to the client.

As one would suspect, this wasn’t Paulie’s First bite at the Attorney Misfit Apple Tree. He previously received a complimentary reprimand and a stayed 15-month suspension of his law license for engaging in a variety of misconduct.

As a consequence of his misconduct, the enablers for Attorney Misfits sitting on the Texas Supreme Court punished Paulie by gifting him with a complimentary fully probated 1-year suspension of his law license.

In truth the comedians sitting on the Texas Supreme Court didn’t mete out any meaningful punishment to Paulie.

As we speak (ca. April 2014) Paulie practices at 905 West Olforf Street in Austin, Texas.
